Message from the President - Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce

It is an honor to serve as President of your Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce for 2016.

I say “your” chamber because that is exactly what it is! This is a member driven organization here to serve the businesses, community, and citizens of Ozark. The board of directors and I are here to ensure the Chamber has the tools needed to retain and expand existing businesses while looking to bring in new businesses, visitors and tourists to our great city.

How do we accomplish this goal? We continue to work closely with the Arkansas Economic Development Commission to make sure Ozark is ready to take advantage of economic development opportunities as they arise. We sponsor and promote multiple events throughout the year which makes a huge economic impact on our community.

This past year has seen many successes. For example, the BEST Rods and Ribs event I have seen. We want to build on those successes to bring more business traffic into Ozark, but we cannot do that alone. We must all work together to accomplish this goal. As members of the Ozark Area Chamber of Commerce I challenge you to the following:

  1. Volunteer
  2. Engage
  3. Communicate

Working together means that we must each do our part to make the Chamber, our businesses, and our community successful. That starts with volunteering! We would love for you to join one of our committees and share new and fresh ideas to make our events better.

Next we want you to engage. Our general membership meetings and business after hours, just to name a few, are great networking opportunities to showcase and promote your business.

Last, but certainly not least, we must ALL communicate. Let us know if there is something we can do to help promote or advertise your business or event. Have an idea for a new festival or event? Let us know, or better yet, join a committee.

Bottom line, we cannot be successful without you, our members!

I often hear “What can the Chamber do for me?” One of the greatest assets the Chamber has to offer its members is our website, It is a powerful tool that is available to all our members. It offers advertising opportunities, an event calendar, and even a member page that you can customize with your logo, coupons and discounts, and link to your own website. Don’t have a website? The member page gives you an online presence that is so crucial in today’s business environment.

In closing, I am reminded of the famous words of President John F. Kennedy, “Ask not what your country can do for you — ask what you can do for your country.” These timeless words reiterate that we must work together at all levels to be successful. Let’s make 2016 the best year ever.

Tony Wilson
2016 President
